About The Host

“It is my considered opinion that The Borneo Tropical Rainforest Foundation has the vision, the expertise and the commitment to work with the local people and their governments to [ensure] that the Great Mega-biodiverse Island of Borneo becomes a role model in what I like to call ‘The Green Renaissance’. A worldwide movement that is beginning to stitch this lonely planet back into a more natural and hence sustainable working order.”

Professor David Bellamy, OBE

The Borneo Tropical Rainforest Foundation (BTRF) was established in 2004 with a unique Borneo focus and a direct mandate to develop for rainforest and protected area management:

  • An example of regional and transboundary cooperation

It operates as a non-profit Foundation under the supervisory authority of the Swiss department of Internal Affairs and has its Secretariat within the International Environment House complex in Geneva; as well as a field office in Jakarta through its partnership with the Yayasan Hutan Tropis Borneo (YHTB).
